Sustainability in Action
Responsible mining
The accelerating shift to a low-carbon economy is driving demand for cobalt and copper, critical minerals for batteries and renewable technologies. As a leading producer of both, ERG Africa has a duty to assure the integrity of our materials from source to end-user.
We meet this responsibility through The Copper Mark certification at Metalkol, RMI - RMAP certification at Metalkol and the ERG Clean Cobalt & Copper Framework, which goes beyond compliance to demonstrate leadership in responsible sourcing, processing and trading. Aligned with the OECD Due Diligence Guidance and the Responsible Minerals Initiative's RMAP, the framework provides credible assurance to customers, regulators and stakeholders across global value chains.
But our accountability doesn't end at the mines. Through our Supplier Code of Conduct, we promote responsible practices across our supply chain, embedded in contracts and reinforced through onboarding, training, audits and risk-based assessments. This helps ensure suppliers and contractors operate with the same rigour we apply to ourselves.
Through ethical value chains and transparent governance, we support socio-economic development in our host communities, while giving our downstream partners confidence that our products are responsibly sourced.
