Frontier mine joins the global community in celebrating World Clean-up Day

In celebration of World Cleanup Day 2022, Frontier mine hosted a community cleanup campaign on Saturday, 17 September. World Cleanup Day is an annual global social action programme founded in 2018 that unites governments, organisations and volunteers across 191 countries to tackle the global solid waste challenge.

Rising to the call to create a cleaner world, more than 120 Frontier employees and community volunteers gathered to play their part in picking up litter from areas surrounding the Frontier Worker’s Camp in Sakania. The litter picked up during the campaign was collected and hauled away for environmentally safe disposal.

The cleanup campaign demonstrates Frontier living true to the ERG Values, Responsibility (carefully managing the resources and the environment entrusted to us) and Unity (working together as a team of passionate people aiming to achieve our set goals). As a business, ERG Africa is committed to preserving and maintaining healthy, natural environments through the application of sustainable practices in its areas of operation.

Camp Supervisor, Bertin Ngoie, addressing the team and volunteers on behalf of Frontier General Manger, Xavier Thérin, commended everyone for coming together and heeding the call to clean up. “We are all environmental stewards and we each have a role to play in protecting the planet now so that it can serve future generations. Let us all be responsible in our daily activities and dispose litter the right way, not just on World Cleanup Day, but every day of the year”, he added.
